A developing area of high pressure along the eastern coast of the US along with the departing low pressure system are helping to produce a tight pressure gradient which keeps the winds high and the wind fetch over the water high. This leads to high surf and swells to affect the local beaches like today. The gradient should remain tight through  sunday and then start to relax some, but the flow should remain onshore through until the middle of next week.

Now that our winds have come around to the northeast, our temperatures will modified from the ocean airmass putting a end to our cold spell of five days. Next system to affect my area won’t come into play until late next week, with some possible precip and isolated strong storm or two if moisture returns.

I’ll be monitoring coastal areas for yet more beach erosion as the surf and winds will be up for some time. Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend and I’ll catch ya on saturday.
