Low Sun Angle These Days

Driving home yesterday from the coast around 1:35 pm ET, I was out shooting some stock video and photography and noticed how the sun angle is so low in the sky these days. I know the winter “solstice” is coming on December 21 and the sun will be at it’s lowest in the sky. I could not imagine living in the northern United States or maybe even Canada where the sun angle is even lower during the winter months. I do know that this time of year with the short sunlight hours and the lower sun angle it greatly affects my moods.
Im all for the long days and short nights and the high sun over ahead with temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Thats what I have lived with my whole life living in South Florida. Our winters are very short here and our tropical hot climate sticks around for much of the year and when the sun angle like in the photo above starts to become more noticeable in late November and early December, I definitely feel it.
