Well todays the last day of hurricane season and there is nothing out there to worry about, but in the central Plains and Midwest states, there is a impressive winter storm taking place this morning. Area’s from West Texas to western Oklahoma are seeing light to moderate snowfall and sleet and icy issues further east near Dallas and Denton, Texas. Many locations along the western Red River valley are reporting light snow this hour with temperatures in the lower to mid twenties with bone chill’in northwest gusty winds. This weather should continue the rest of the day before starting to clear out and filter in even colder temperatures for tonight. This winter precip continues northeast into the Midwest and then will move into the Ohio valley on friday.
This is the same winter storm system that helped add more record precipitation totals to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for the month of November. As this system moved east into Colorado the storm dumped up to 2 feet of snow in some locations in the mountains. Several people were killed due the severe winter weather, along with highways and roads slow to move with large amount of snow covering the area. The clean up begins there today.
Watching all the events up north today over the midwest and Plains with all the winter precipitation makes me happy to be in 77.2F temperatures with a nice southeast flow off the ocean and a warm sun. Im not a big fan of winter weather except for the once a year trip to the National Storm Chaser Convention in Denver, Colorado, were we go up into the mountains to play in the snow. Thats about all I can handle of the white stuff and after 4 days of it Im ready to return to the tropics. My body works better in the heat and moisture…
Hurricane Season 2006 - Good-Bye:
Yes, todays the last day of the Atlantic Hurricane Season. See my post below from yesterday for my small review of the season and my thoughts on not chasing any hurricanes this year.
