Awesome Launch of Space Shuttle Discovery / Video

I’m just returning from the Cape, where Kersten, JJ and I viewed a excellent launch of Space Shuttle Discovery at 8:47pm ET. We were located just south of Kenndy Space Center and laucn pad 38B. Discovery blasted into the atmosphere lighting the night sky like it was in the middle of the day. It was a awesome sight to see as this is the first night time launch in four years.

The weather cleared just in time for the second attempt of Discovery, after thursdays failed launch due to high winds and low clouds. Tonight, the skies cleared and the winds relaxed allowing this awesome show to take place. We watched along with tons of other people from all around the nation and overseas that setup early this afternoon along the Banana River to view a clear shot of the launch.

This was Kersten’s and JJ’s first up close and personal launch and a lucky one at that, since it was a night event. The loved the bright sky and loud thunder of Discovery blasting into space. I enjoy it just as much and you can view my full video of the launch, along with mission launch control audio on my ham radio.

Well, after a scrub on thursday, it all came together tonight! I’m so ready for bed now and will update again on monday morning. Enjoy the photos and video stream of the launch and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
