Supercell with Rainbow and hail falling on highway

Good morning,

I’m short on time this morning, so I decided to post another archived photograph from Moments in Chasing. Have to be on the road in 20 minutes and really nothing weather wise to chat about today besides a few showers moving onshore from the Atlantic.

The above photograph was shot in Oklahoma as we closed in on the severe storm from the north, heading right towards the hail shaft. You can see the hail falling right above the highway and the stones already on the ground, with a nice rainbow in the background. The rainbow is being produced by the hail and rain as the sun shines on the back side of the hail shaft making for a cool affect.

The video of this is really cool as well with the hail bouncing on the road with the rainbow, like it’s raining gold. If you look in the upper right corner of the photo you can see some of the larger hail stones falling.

Well, I must get going before I throw my timing off for the whole day and end of having to be out late into the evening.
