Fine Sunset, But No Comet McNaught Due to Clouds

I was presented with another impressive Florida sunset, but remain frustrated at all the high-level cirrus clouds that continue to keep me from getting a good view of Comet McNaught. This is like the sixth night in a row that I have been fighting to see the show off comet. If it’s not the high cirrus clouds one day, it’s the low-level stratocumulus off the ocean the next.
Comet Mcnaught has become the first comet to been seen during daylight hours today, since Comet Ikeya-Seki in 1965. McNaught is passing close to the sun, which is helping to brighten the comet. Solar heat is causing the comet to vaporize furiously and brighten to daylight visibility, as seen in some photographs this afternoon on SpaceWeather.com . Some very impressive photos on SpaceWeather.com over the last few days, with great images from all over the world, and worth the visit to the McNaught Photo Gallery.
I’m going to get up early tomorrow morning (Sunday), to see how the sky is looking and if possible, capture McNaught in the early am. This will be my second pre-dawn attempt and hope to luck out this time around. If not, I’ll hope for clear skies Sunday night, or maybe get a view during daylight hours. They say the best way to spot McNaught during the day this weekend is to place yourself in the shadow of a house, building or tree and make a fist and hold it at arm’s length. The comet is about one fist-width (5 degrees) east of the sun’s position. I gave it a try today, but in the area where I should of seen the comet, it was socked in with clouds.
Look for another update from me on my Comet McNaught photo capture chase tomorrow, along with more updates on the current Ice storm in the Plains and Midwest states. This ice storm has already taken six lives, and another round of ice and sleet expected into sunday.
Also, a blog news update, I did some tweaking to the blog site today to help clean it up some and add some smooth looks to the site. I still have to intergrate my advertisers that are seen on Weathervine.com and Hurricanevideo.com. I do now have Google adsense running on the blog now that traffic is way up and the trend continues. I welcome your feedback on the look and layout in the comment option below.
Good night,

Good luck catching the comet. At least you have a horizon view… a beautiful one at that…

Thanks Dew… Yeah the horizon has been the only thing in my favor the last week. It’s 1:13am and I need to crash so I can get a few hours of sleep before sunrise. Going for the am shot at McNaught this time around.
