Free Cocktail, But No Surgery

I’m very displeased this evening after another crazy day at this hospital and lack of communication with the staff here. I have had good visits here in the past, but it just seems to me that many working here are on different pages this time around. I was sent down to pre-op at 10:30am ET for my noon surgery on my foot. I was giving my pre-op IV cocktails to relax me and shaved my foot for surgery. Two hours past and then I’m told that my surgery was bumped until Wednesday due to the OR being over booked today. Over booked!?!
This is getting old and now I’m here for another night or two until they figure out what’s going on. Being really not sick, and here only for some minor foot surgery makes it hard because you don’t want to be stuck in a room and bed when you feel fine. I’m getting grumpy with the staff this evening since communication once again is lacking. A cardiac nurse comes in to give me a EKG since someone noted I was having “chest pain”. No chest pain here! Get your patients names in order.
So, here I sit starting over tonight at midnight with no food or drinks for tomorrows surgery. I get to watch Idol and House tonight from the fifth floor of the hospital. The only good news of the day is, my food eating, gas passing roommate went home, so I’m solo in here tonight. I’m sure the nurses we be sure to come in every few hours for blood pressure readings and the lab folks coming in around 4am for blood work for the doctors that won’t do rounds until 10-11am.
The IV cocktail was nice today, but I’d rather be home in my own bed. I’ll try and get another post up before the next attempt on Wednesday morning.

Wow, I really hope you labeled your foot… sounds like they really don’t have a clue…

Funny you say that..they did come in early this morning and marked my right leg with a arrow pointing towards the surgery site.
Just coming out of my loopy sleep and getting ready to eat for the first time since dinner. Surgery is over and went very well. Working on a post after I eat.
