Since I have all this time awaiting my foot surgery, and I can’t sleep tonight, I thought I would browse through my laptop to clean out some old stuff. I came across a old directory and folder that Jim Edds, a very good chaser friend of mine and a excellent photographer & videographer. There was a folder he dropped into my laptop from February 2005 of a series of photographs he took of Kersten, JJ, Chris Collura and I. We were kind of on a chase/ expedition that day as we were visiting the Denver, Colorado area for the National Storm Chaser Convention. On the last day of the convention we like to spend half of that Sunday up in the mountains playing with snow and traveling through scenes you would never see in Florida. This also was J.J.’s first time seeing and playing in snow, so he was having a blast.

Jim joined us that Sunday and Monday up in the mountains and e just went photo crazy with all of us in the bright blue skies, with snowfall everywhere. He was just having fun shooting us playing and exploring the area. In most of the photos we are near 8,000, but later headed up to Loveland Pass at just about 12,000 feet with crazy mountain top winds and blowing snow… Pretty cool. We had a awesome time hiking some of the snow trails later in the day and watching the snowboarders head down near Loveland pass. We must of stopped at 10-15 different locations in the mountains for video and photos. I did a lot of time lapse video of the clouds over the mountain peaks that day and have some great stock video archive today.

Us Florida folks never get to play in the snow, and our once a year trip for the National Storm Chaser Convention, gave us not only a excellent chaser venue, but also some great mountain and snow outdoor fun. Digging and throwing snow, playing with ice and snowballs was a blast. Later that day it began to snow hard up there in the mountains and I drove for the first time in heavy snow. Kersten and JJ defiantly had a blast and they always want to return again each winter.

Once again storm chasing brought us to another cool location to experience scenes and places on this earth many never get to see. Standing up on Loveland Pass was such a cool moment for Kersten and I and I’m sure we will visit again in the near future. That’s the best thing about chasing and chasing friends, you love to travel and explore new places, people, and atmosphere conditions you never encounter in your own home town. Get out there and explore with your wife or husband and take your kids to explore their world. There is so much to see while chasing storms, or just traveling, so get out there.

A big thanks to Storm Chaser Jim Edds for the awesome photo package of that trip. Glad I found the folder Jim! Jim’s stock video and photography can be found on his website at: http://www.extremestorms.com/

Now I think I’ll try and get some sleep before my second attempt at this foot surgery thing. ERRR!
