Overnight Florida Tornado & Severe Weather

Central Florida is starting off this early Friday morning with a slowly moving squall line ahead of a cold front. Overnight the isolated storms lined out into a squall line and have been slowly shifting southeastward. The area was under a tornado watch until 6:00am ET this morning, as some of the stronger embedded storms could produce short-lived tornadoes. Now the winds are becoming more unidirectional and the tornado threat is just about gone. Strong straight-line winds could still be a problem in the morning with some of the stronger embedded cells in the squall line.
The line is expected to continue moving slowly down the state of Florida and weaken some as the better upper-level support pulls away to the northeast. Some very welcome rainfall fell over very dry locations of north and central Florida as some storms trained over the same area for a few hours. South Florida is in need of some of that rain and hoping for the line to hold together during the day today to pick of some precipitation totals.

The boundary is forecast to stall out over the weekend and bring a chance of some weak thunderstorms south of the boundary. The Super Bowl in Miami could see some showers on the upcoming big Sunday game.
The only two tornado reports from this whole severe events is coming out of North-central Florida near “The Villages” where it looks like a tornado did damage to many homes, business and a trailer park. As of now possibly one person was killed, but has not been confirmed as of yet. (update death toll stands at 19 now) The rest of the severe weather damage reports were all due strong damaging straight-line winds.
update 725am et - Local EOC now reporting several possible deaths from the overnight Florida tornado.
