Severe storm season is about to get underway starting tomorrow evening over the Great Plains. A impressive upper-level trough will be moving out of the Rockies and into the Plains on Friday and will help setup a severe weather event for several days from the Plains to Florida. Friday evening the first severe storms are expected to develop in the Red River Valley area’s of Texas and Oklahoma, with supercell thunderstorms with very large hail and possible isolated tornadoes. This will be the first of several overnight storms to deal with, some very strong. Overnight Friday into Saturday, locations from central Kansas southward to north central Texas will encounter severe storms, with large hail and strong winds as the main threat.
During the day Saturday, the area of severe weather will be shifting and ongoing into eastern Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, and Louisiana. With better moisture and wind profiles, the tornado threat will increase in these locations, with a few stronger tornadic storms embedded or ahead of the main line of storms, and line segments. Saturday looks to be pretty busy over the deep south with severe weather.
Saturday night into Sunday and Monday, all the severe weather continues to shift eastward into the Southeast states and Florida. It’s still a little early to know how much energy will be left with the system and the out come. Still models are showing some severe storms, more in the way of a squall line, but a few more isolated storm could be a issued with a few tornadoes. A better picture of the setup will come into view over the weekend about the southeast states and this storms system.
Stormvideographer.com/blog/ will be following this severe weather event over the weekend, and will be updating news from the field from several Storm Chasers that will be chasing this setup. The battle of the seasons to begin this weekend.
