Hurricane Chasers Want TechTV & TSS Back

I was talking with a fellow Storm Chaser buddy the other day, and the topic came up about interviews and TV appearances that I have done in the past. I was telling him about, out of all the news interviews, and live media hurricane coverage that I have done, my favorite interview was on the Screen Savers, that aired live Monday-through-Friday on TechTv. Back on March 8, 2004, my good friends, Storm Chasers Jim Edds, and Chris Collura and I few out to San Francisco, CA to appear on the Screen Savers live, for a segment call “Tornado Proof-Tech”. It was a segment about what tech gear we used in the field while chasing severe storms, tornadoes and hurricanes. This was a lot of fun for all of us, especially myself, since I was a huge fan of the show for the last three years.
Jim Edds and I first made contact with the show while in Las Vegas, NV for CES as Jim was being honored in a segment that the CEO of Sprint was presenting about the new High speed wireless data cards, and how we used them while chasing hurricanes. So during CES, Jim and I ended up running into one of the TSS shows co-producers and was invited to possibly come out to San Francisco to tape a show about chasing storms high-tech style. After several weeks of talking back and forth with the show we ended up getting booked.
The show was great, and it was excellent to meet a lot of the crew of the Screen Savers. Patrick Norton and Kevin Rose
were the two hosting the show that evening, and it was great working with them. The main reason for this post today is after talking with my buddy about this TV appearance, I noticed really how much I miss TechTV and The Screen Savers. I mean, I used to have TechTV on all the time playing in the background of my home office and watch most of the Screen Savers shows. The TechTV network is no longer on the air and was replaced with the G4 Network. I believe from time to time G4 airs old Screen Saver shows, but TSS is no longer in production. Myself and others really wish the show would return someday, and a tech-geared network channel as well.
Patrick Norton and Kevin Rose, the hosts of The Screen Savers, went on to produce some successful tech projects. Patrick can been seen on his Live internet TV tech show, Tuesdays and Thursdays at DL.tv. Kevin Rosewent on to create the mega hit news sharing website Digg.com, and you can also find Kevin doing some internet TV on his own show, Diggnation. http://revision3.com/diggnation G4 took over and is more geared towards gaming and such, which is cool, but I still miss the old TechTv and Screen Savers. The old TSS crew should bring back their own network one day.
