If you live in Western Texas, you are aware of all the heavy rain that has falling over the last 24 hours. Impressive flash flooding started on Sunday afternoon and continued well into the overnight hours. In the Midland and Odessa, Texas area’s, flooding became severe with motorist’s being trapped in their vehicles due to the high waters. Parts of interstate 20 were flooded and side roads were impossible to drive through. Flash flood watches remain until 9:00 am this morning for a lot of Southwest Texas. Over 10-12 inches of rain fell in some locations.
More storms and heavy rain are expected again this afternoon in Southwest and southern Texas, and will likely cause more flooding issues. At the same time there is a slight risk of severe storms as well over southern Texas with a chance of a few isolated tornado and hail reports.
The severe weather setup in the Wisconsin area really never developed, and storms never became rooted well for tornadoes and long-lived Supercells. Everything formed into a squall line and then quickly tracked off to the northeast.
Wishing for some of Texas heavy rainfall here in Florida where no rain expected again today. I’ll be on the road today from central Florida to South Florida. I’ll likely be looking out for more dust devils than anything else as they have become the norm around here lately.
