Just getting back from a outstanding morning and afternoon in Miami Beach, Florida, where we spent much of the day relaxing and taking in the awesome tropical weather today. I was born and raised in Southeast Florida, so the greater Miami and Ft Lauderdale area is home to me. I moved north to West Palm Beach when I was 18 and then to Okeechobee in 2003, but I have always visit home. I’m sure I will return to the city and the wild busy SFLA one day.

Kersten and I had lunch on Ocean Drive, where the winds off the ocean were warm and gusty, and the water was a awesome blue-green color. The sidewalk café’s were jumping and there were a lot of Spring Breakers and northern folks still enjoying the tropical scenes of Miami Beach. You couldn’t ask for a better day weather-wise to hang out on the Miami strip. Kersten went into a few shops, while I walked around shooting video and photographs of the Buildings and local scene.

As we looked north up A1A we could see a group of 4-6 helicopters hovering over North Miami Beach. At first we thought maybe they were filming a movie, which is normal down here, or maybe Britney Spears was back in town shaving some one else’s head now. Well it turns out there was a stand off with SWAT officers as a bank robber was held up in a building with a hostage. As of this post, they were still in the stand off with the hostage situation, and several schools were in lock down as well.

It was nice to hang out in my old stomping grounds and have lunch, catch up on some old locations I use to visit and just enjoying the nice weather. I have and always will be a tropical man, and live some where in the tropical temp zones. I’d love to have a home in the Bahamas or lower Keys, but I’ll keep dreaming for now. Well, were off to JJ’s practice baseball game this evening, so I better get off this computer and go get ready.

Oh, I see there is a Tornado Watch active in Arkansas and Louisiana, and see reports of Golfball sized hail in Plains Dealing, LA located in Bossier, County. Radar showing a few isolated small compact severe storms moving north and east of Shreveport, LA at this time. At least some one is getting storms again today. I’ll be monitoring.
