Hurricane Season 2007 Coming SoonI look to the calendar today and see that we are down to 64 days left ( almost 8 weeks), until the start of the 2007 Atlantic Basin Hurricane Season. Wow! Can you believe that it’s almost time to start watching all the tropical disturbances that form in the tropical Atlantic? I know for many, especially along the northern Gulf and Florida, they are not looking forward to a new hurricane season. Being a Hurricane Chaser, I do look forward to the hurricane season because I love to forecast and track the storms regardless if I chase them or not. Hurricanes are going to happened, and I’m just here to document them and learn from them. ….That’s a whole other topic that I will blog about soon.

The best thing for residents that live in hurricane prone area’s is to be ready long before any storm even forms. If your ready, you’ll make it through the event much better and this will be less stress on your family and yourself. I prepare early each season for my family and home, that way when it comes time to chase and my home is located in the hurricane warning forecast area, I know I’m all set and just need to move family members to safer locations if need be and everything else is all set. Being prepared is key to dealing with all the dangers of during the storm if your riding it out, and all the intense stress during the aftermath and clean up process. Remember, you can be without power for 10 days, so plan ahead.

Once again this year, I’ll be intercepting any land falling hurricanes in the United States. Last year was a very slow season “landfall wise” in the U.S. due to a developing El Nino. This year could be much different. It’s still early and this year could easily be a dud like last year. This topic will be coming up more and more over the next 8 weeks as we near the start of the season. I will continue my blog posts covering developing systems, active hurricanes, computer forecast model and satellite storm discussions, and hurricane chase intercept blog coverage with my photos and video from the road.

Hurricane Rita 2005 Key West, FLIf your in the South and Central Florida area’s, I will be speaking at a few hurricane preparedness venues in early May and again in early June. I will post dates and locations on this blog two weeks or so before the events, so please check back. I’ll also try and add some highlight videos from some of the event on this blog.

Yeah, this blog post will likely set off some of the “Hurricane Die Hard Enthusiasts” to start sending emails asking “how bad will this season get?”. Really, I’d love to chat hurricanes, hit up my comments section. I know were still out a little over two months from the start, and in which the June and July months of the hurricane season are normally slow to start anyway, but it is closing in. I’m looking forward to bringing you my hurricane expedition scenes, thoughts and encounters once again this season, and to share my passion for tracking these monster storms on earth. Much more to come in the coming weeks and during the opening of the Atlantic Hurricane Season 2007.
