A significant tornado outbreak took place yesterday, Wednesday March 28, 2007 over the High Plains from the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles, into western Kansas and western Nebraska. So far over 60 tornado reports have come in on this impressive severe weather event. Storm Chasers captured some excellent views of Wednesdays tornadoes, starting in Briscoe County, near the town of Silverton, in the Texas Panhandle. Several tornadoes were documented here, and are now airing on network TV today. Storm Chasers reported tornadoes for over several hours and well into the after dark hours, where another large tornado stuck the town of Bird City, in northwest Kansas.

In the Oklahoma Panhandle, in Beaver County, two people were killed by a tornado that was racing northward. This tornado outbreak was one of the most impressive events for March in many years. There were over 100 tornado warning issues during the event, and likely over a dozen well document tornadoes on video and photos from the Storm Chaser Community. Baseball and Softball large hail were also reported widespread on Wednesday, as the intense updrafts of these Tornadic Supercells made for perfect hailers, on top of the damaging twisters.

Once Chasers get their chase reports and logs on their websites, I’ll post a list of tornado video and photographs from the March 28, 2007 Tornado Outbreak in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska.

The severe weather is expected to continue today over parts of central Kansas, southward into central Texas, with large hail, damaging straight line winds, and isolated tornadoes. The tornado threat will not be anywhere near what happened on Wednesdays outbreak, but a few are still possible.
