Spring is in the air and today starts the first full week in April. April marks the beginning of the Storm Chasing season for many chasers across the country. With all the tornandoes captured last week, the season is starting off a lot different than the last two seasons. As for today, there is a slight risk of severe storms with a small possibility of a tornado or two in Texas and Iowa. Once again the central U.S. will have the more active thunderstorm pattern in place, while the west and Southeast remain dry.
I thought I would start the new month off with some archived storm chasing video from our May 2005 Plains Expedition. This is just a small video clip showing some time lapse of a developing super cell, a close CG lightning strike, and some cool marble size hail with a rainbow. Just some sights and sounds to start of the spring storm season and this wonderful first week of April.
April is one of my favorite months because it opens the storm season, our easterlies return here in Florida, and I have a birthday. I’m sure it’s going to be a busy month and I’ll have a lot to share so be sure to stop on by here each day. Have a great start to the month and your new work week. Spring is here, start enjoying it.
Off to take care of business for the day… enjoy the small video clip.
