The Eastern weekend weather is not so boring this year for many. First we have a snowy white Easter Eve from the upper Midwest to the Northeast where snow lays on the ground like Christmas. Cold temperatures have spilled as far south as Miami, with temperatures topping off in the upper 60s to lower 70s in central and South Florida. Daytime highs in the 60s in April over the sunshine state? It was beautiful over the Southeast on Saturday, so people still on spring break were likely taking in all the bright blue skies with a high sun, and cool breezes from the north.

On to Texas we go now, where they are catching up on years of needed rain. Texas has been in a ongoing drought for several years, and this early spring has brought the return to heavy rains. Some area’s have received too much to fast over the last month, but many locations will take it. If Texas can put a dent in the drought some, and get some moisture in the soil, there could be a more active severe weather season over Texas. Huh? That’s for another time. Tonight the radar is very active over Texas as a disturbance moves over the area, helping to produce some thunderstorms and steady heavy precipitation.

The West is loving the warm and dry weather, besides the Pacific Northwest with some light rains and breezy conditions. So, Easter weekend in 2007 a little different from this time last year. I’m sure our weather across the nation will return to a more April like pattern soon, and the severe weather normally found this time of year over the South and Southern Plains, will soon once again taunt Storm Chasers from coast to coast.

Have a safe and Happy Easter Weekend.
