Central Florida Lightning Storms, Severe Weather

I’m currently in Central Florida chasing a line of severe storms. I’m mainly out here for the lightning tonight. I wanted to shoot some overnight lightning time lapse stuff and digital lightning photography. So far the lightning show is pretty impressive south and east of Orlando. Intense thunderstorm moving toward the Space Coast and Melbourne at this time, with a trailing outflow boundary that new weaker cells keep redeveloping on.
This is all from a area of thunderstorms that first developed in the Gulf of Mexico early this evening and now have been racing eastward. Wind damage, large hail and even funnel clouds have been reported with the passage of this area of storms in the Tampa Bay area. I’m expecting more severe weather reports on the east coast in the next hour. This is yet another very welcomed round of heavy rains for the state in the last 24 hours. Helping a little with the ongoing severe drought in Florida.
I’ll keep you posted on my captures for the evening during tomorrows post.
