Storm Chasers Capture Seymour, Texas Tornado Video

Once again tornadoes return to Texas. Storm Chasers captured one heck of a wedge tornado (see below) just southeast of Seymour, Texas on Friday. The storm was a long-tracked tornadic Supercell, that mostly moved over open land. Not only did this storm produced a large tornado, but also insane hail up to the size of baseballs. Another much weaker tornado moved through the Dallas / Ft Worth area later in the evening hours. It looks like there was more damage from all the large hail in the Metroplex than from the tornado. The short-lived Metroplex tornado was spotted near Bedford, halfway between Ft Worth and Dallas.
The storms moved on into eastern Texas where they developed into a squall line with damaging winds and large hail. The main threat for today is over the lower Mississippi Valley and the Southeastern states. A few tornadoes possible today, but mostly expecting a damaging winds and large hail event.
As for the Storm Chasers that caught the Large Seymour Wedge Tornado, here are their reports, including photos, and video clips.

Great coverage, Jeff, as usual.
Thanks Dew… These guys did a great job getting into the notch yesterday and getting the tornado on film. Most of the better road network remained in the large hail core, so there was a small window to view the tornado from what I can see from folks reports and video.
We were insanely lucky that the chase went down the way it did. Had we headed directly west from Denton, as we had pondered doing that morning, we likely would not have been on the north/south road that gave us the momentary viewing angle. Chasing is so much about luck that it’s mind-boggling we ever see anything.
fantastic!!!
Amos - Yeah I can understand that! I like Eric in the video.. “should we go north? oh isolated large hail falling - yeah lets go north”
First off, I hate TV internet… Second, it sounds like the South Georgia system is falling apart… Jay has givenme an update. I saw a tornado warning early near the AL/GA line. Speculation is that a second line is possible behind this first, might be the best shot for South Central GA, not for several hours now.. hubby better sleep with teh weather radio nearby… he’s reporting that we actually have gotten 1/4 of an inch so far. I am not able to update my blog for some reason, but the comments are working. I can’t wait to get out of here. It’s OK, I’ll be in Vegas tomorrow, seeing Celiine.
Vegas! ATL is not fun. Been there, done that. Have a safe trip.
I remember being in ATL in 1998 awaiting a Delta airlines flight from Ft Lauderdale Florida, with Amos’s laptop on it. We were on our way out to the Plains for chase season, and Amos left his laptop at home. He had a friend grab and put it on a plane and we scooped it up later that afternoon. LOL
Full chase log here. A good read!

Thanks for letting us know what caused all the hail in Seymour. We were in the elementary school building with all the students wondering when the hail was ever going to stop.
Your welcome Joyce, and welcome to the blog. I’m sure the baseball hail made for a very loud event for the children. Sounds like everything is ok beside the large hail.
you guys rock! I can’t wait for hurricane season with your updates.
Thanks NC Hurricane. Welcome to the blog. Be sure to be here during the active hurricane season for full coverage of the storms and the chase intercepts.
This website Rocks!!!
