Northern Texas and Oklahoma look to have a slight risk of severe storms today, with possible large hail and a tornado here and there. Shear profiles look ok for Supercells, but the only lacking thing is some deep moisture. The dew points will likely top out in the upper 50s. Will be monitoring this area later today.
The Carolina’s has a risk of some severe storms today as the left over cold front from the big east coast trough moves offshore later this evening. Hail and damaging winds are the largest threat, with a small tornado threat. This cold front extends southward down into Florida where isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected (late) in the day. Local sea breeze boundaries along with the pre-frontal trough, will spark off some storms over inland locations that will then move towards the east coast beach.
I’m planning on being out for convection by late afternoon into the evening. On a lightning video mission today, if we can get some decent storms to develop. I’ll keep you update on everything noted for today. I’m now off to West Palm Beach for several hours this morning, so I need to wrap this up and get going.
Have a great Friday!

Jeff, Any word on the outlook for hurricane season? Was wondering if any new information was out. It’s not that far away. I remember we has some early storms last year.
No - not much as of yet, but as we move into May we can start to look at the pattern changes. I’ll start more daily discussions on the tropics as we near June 1st. One things for sure, I love to talk about tropical meterology.
Why am I not surprised by that?
Jeff, you may have to contact Dewdrops agent before you send anymore email to her…I am not an expert on the patterns, thats for sure, but it does interest me.
LOL Dew -

Rick - Lots to talk about tropical wise real soon… I can’t wait! So Dew’s sporting a media agent now eh? Dew what production company are you working with for filming your expedition? I have worked with a lot of them over the years. A lot of them are based over sea’s in the UK.
