Tornado Alley lived up to it’s name this past weekend with tornado outbreaks on both Friday May 4 and Saturday May 5, 2007. When all the severe weather parameters come together, like this past weekend, the Plains can be a dangerous place. Large and violent tornadoes, including the wedge tornado that wiped out the town of Greensburg, Kansas. Nine residents of Greensburg lost their lives on Friday from the damaging long-tracked tornado. The Storm Prediction Center has reported over 120 tornado reports over the last two days. That’s a lot of tornado reports. Now some of these are for the same locations, but when it’s all said and done, there will be a lot of confirmed tornado damage paths to survey over the next week. Hardest hit states were Oklahoma, Kansas Nebraska and South Dakota.
Storm Chasers blanketed the Tornado Alley highways this past weekend as it’s the peak chasing season for many storm chasers. This was a record weekend for many, and there are some unbelievable tornado and storm structure pictures, video clips and chase reports coming in from the field. I have not even started my Plains chase season yet, but sure wishing I did early. Below is a list over the last two days of Storm Chase reports with photos and video of the tornadoes and / or outstanding storm structure.

Is there any study or research to suggest if there is a strong tornado season (?) that this will reflect on how the hurricane season will be? I don’t think there is but I was just curious.
Thanks
Good question! Jeff any thoughts?
Hey Michele and NC Cane - Not sure how the tornado season so far will show how the upcoming hurricane season might be, but the season is already forecast to be above normal. I’ll be looking into all of this moring in the coming weeks and will post on it.
Right now I’m out on the road awaiting the severe storms, possible Supercells to develop along the east coast sea breeze and developing trough to move down the Florida spin today. SPC just issued a new Mesoscale discussion concerning a possible WW and Supercells. Lots of CAPE today, so expected a very active afternoon. Will have a update later this evening.
lol- wish I had seen this post BEFORE I went out this afternoon.. Driving on 710- switched over to 441 and I swear, I wanted to say “cow”……..”there goes a cow”.
LOL yeah it kinda go rough here in Okeechobee County. I had a little wind damage at my house, and the hail made for some fun moments. At least we got some rain again. Lets keep this trend going!
Be safe, Jeff. Looks like some good stuff down your way. As you can well imagine, it totally missed us… shocking, I know.
Hey Dew - It was a wild afternoon, and encountered some impressive winds today with one of the Martin Co Cells. Just getting in for dinner.

Hi Lisa, welcome to the blog. Thanks for posting the information about your Next Of Kin Registry system.
Great info here. I looked up every link and photo. I lived in TX and OK for years. I got too scared of the weather and saw at two while out there. I find them interesting to watch—from a distance, a long distance.
