Weather Map IR May 20, 2007Good Sunday morning. It’s a slow weather day pretty much over much of the nation on this mid to late May weekend. Only good severe storm action that is possible is over the far northern Plains. This looks to be the only chaseable weather this weekend, and if your on the Plains right now for your chasecation, then you likely have made the long haul the last 48 hours northward for the setup. I know all the Storm Chasing Tours are sitting up in the Dakotas this morning planning the days storm chasing targets. Man I miss these long haul chase days during a ridge in May. Your either chasing upslope in New Mexico or Colorado, or you chasing near Canada. Anything to see a Supercell during a ridge.

Moisture starved storms up there today should make for some nice LP storm structure and hailers. The Storm Chaser Tours can give their guests a nice taste of Northern High Plains hail storms and lightning shows at sunset. No big tornado setup today, but you can still come away with some really cool storm chasing if you play it right and chase well into the evening hours. Best of luck today to all that made the haul northward.

For myself today, it’s shaping up to be another bright, smoke free sunny and breezy day. Have some outside yard plans for myself, and plan to head by the beach later. With the recent rains, the Florida drought is still in full force, but at least things are turning green again and looking like tropical south Florida. The rainy season is here and our thunderstorms and sea breeze convergence boundaries will return by mid week. So, until then slow weather for me, and enjoying the early summer time pattern.
