Good morning on this great weather Memorial Day Weekend. Yesterday I was out much of the day on the water enjoying the nice weather and the holiday weekend. I had internet issues at home yesterday keeping me from posting, so I opted to just let it go and hit the coast with Kersten for the day. Normally this time of year on Memorial Day weekend, I’m chasing storms in the Great Plains and having a hard time finding a room for the night, but not this year. The Plains have had just minor setups the last week and the future looks even worst going into June.

I have been monitoring the mid and long range models hoping for a decent pattern change out in the Plains, but it looks like more troughing in the east as we move into early June. This is great news for Florida, as some heavy rainfall events could be setting up for this upcoming week and weekend. This won’t bold well for the southern and central Plains. The storm chances will likely be in the far northern Plains and low-probability chases at that, and with gas prices continuing to rise almost everyday, it’s not worth the haul that far north for a small setup. I might try to give a week in late June if things turn around out there late next month before the heart of the Hurricane season gets underway, but for now going to hold tight here in Florida.

Hurricane season 2007 days away from beginning, and the models continue to play with our minds with development of phantom lows out of the western Caribbean Sea and southern Gulf. With height falls moving into mid week over the Gulf, we will have to keep and eye down south just in case. A good tropical system would be a blessing for Floirda and the drought, so here’s wishing for some development.

Speaking of the Caribbean, we went and saw Pirates of The Caribbean 3 last night, and loved it just like the first two movies. This one was a tad long, but lots of action and funny. It made for a great movie to end a great day on the ocean. The weather really has been beautiful the last week, with windy easterly winds, and temperatures in the upper 80’s. Friday night, Kersten and I went to the Florida Marlins and Mets baseball game in Miami. The weather was excellent for the game, as the temps were in the lower 80s with a nice breeze off of Miami Beach.

So, off to enjoy the rest of my weekend, but first I must catch up on email and some advertising requests. Have a safe and fun weekend.
