West Palm Beach Florida Thunderstorms July 21, 2007

Florida took a pounding yesterday from severe weather, very heavy rains and few tornado reports. I was working along the east coast much of the day shooting video for local TV and boy did I have a lot of weather content yesterday. The storms packed a nice punch with hail and strong microburst winds. There were two tornado reports, one in Miami-Dade county and the other over near Ft Myers Florida. Hail reports were more common in central Florida from Orlando to Melbourne.

Today, storms are expected to redevelop and produce another long afternoon and evening of lightning storms, with the possibility of more severe weather, including large hail, damaging winds, and a few isolated weak short-lived tornadoes where boundaries interact with each other.

COOL AIR IN THE MID LEVELS AND DRY AIR ALOFT WILL INCREASE THE THREAT OF LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WIND GUSTS… ESPECIALLY SOUTH OF A LINE FROM COCOA BEACH TO LAKE KISSIMMEE. STORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING FREQUENT TO EXCESSIVE CLOUD- TO-GROUND LIGHTNING. BRIEF TORNADOES WILL BE POSSIBLE WHERE OUTFLOW BOUNDARIES INTERSECT WITH THE EAST COAST SEA BREEZE OR WITH OTHER STORM BOUNDARIES.

Yet another busy day planned for me out on the road with the Florida thunderstorm season in full peak. Have a good Sunday everyone!
