Shelf Cloud / Gust front / Florida

I was going to write about the changing going on in the tropics today, but think I’ll save that for tomorrow. Sure there is a area of disturbed weather in the western Gulf of Mexico, but this area won’t be Chantal anytime soon with the current wind shear, just a big rain maker for Texas, which the could do without…..Send it over to Florida PLEASE.

Yesterday I was swamped with work and running all over, so I had little time to update like I normally do in the morning. I shot this nice look shelf cloud on a thunderstorm gusting out just south of Metro Orlando, Florida on the way to the airport. Would have been great if I had the time to stop and shoot this over a long time lapse moving in from the west.

We look to continue really active with thunderstorms through the weekend, so I plan to be busy shooting video not only for myself, but for some TV as well from now through Sunday. The tropical weather looks to be increasing in the coming week or two, so look for more in detail discussions on any topical weather outlooks and chase plans if any possibilities develop in cyclone chase intercepts. August is just about here, I’m ready for some hurricane chasing once again…

Standing By….patiently.
