Update 11:25pm ET - Hurricane Dean’s Incoming Video - Jamaica

Just heard from Jim Edds… There is some video feeding in from Kingston, Jamaica now. Once I edit and convert it to a streaming format, I’ll post it here. Should be about another 30-40 minutes. No details with the email about the area and how bad it was, I guess we’ll find out in the video, which I haven not seen yet myself. Another update soon.

Update 9:21pm ET - Hurricane Dean’s Exiting The Area of Jamaica

Like my inbox and comments on the site, I like all of you are awaiting word from Jim who is on location in Kingston, Jamaica. It’s been hours now since I last heard from Jim, and I’m pretty sure he’s been deep into filming the worst and the first of the aftermath in Kingston. It’s now dark there, and with debris laying around it’s dangerous to be out in it. He’s likely shooting close to the hotel that he was staying at now that’s it’s dark. I kind of feel guilty that I just stepped away to have a nice warm dinner, while he tracks the water and debris filming. I truly wish I was there with him working on this chase intercept.Jim is equipped with a satellite up /down link system and phone, so even if the power and cell towers are out he should still be able to get some news out, maybe with some pictures. He’s been pulling a long day, so he might wait for first light to start communications again with me an now, the outside world for many on the island. I’m continuing to monitor email, txt, and cell phone from any incoming news from Jim this evening.Hurricane Dean is now starting to pull away from the island of Jamaica, and the worst should be settling down now with a long nigh of darkness in tropical storm force winds on the backside of Dean’s circulation.

Update 7:09pm ET - Hurricane Dean’s Eye Pounding the south coast of Jamaica

Hurricane Dean Satellite Image Picture of the EYEWALL brushing the coast of Jamaica August 19, 2007

There is some unconfirmed sustained winds at 114mph with gusts to 138mph in Kingston, Jamaica in the last hour. There is defiantly damage with wind reports like that. The whole south coast of Jamaica now feeling the wrath of Hurricane Dean. The north eyewall is just miles off the coast and will likely scrape along the whole southwest coast. The core winds are likely reaching the coast in some locations now. I still have not heard from Storm Chaser Jim Edds in awhile, as expected during the worst of the winds and surge. Once things calm some I should here from him. He is equipped with a satellite up /down link system and phone, so he should be able to get communication out later this evening to me. Standing by…I started this new post as the one below became to long and over loaded. Traffic to the blog is insane, about 500 page loads a minute, so the site could be slow at times. Thanks everyone for the great comments to Jim, I;m sure he will read all of them once home. This Dean post is a continuation of the previous Live Hurricane Dean Updates From Kingston Jamaica post.
