Update 12:21am ET - Hurricane Dean’s Video - Kingston Jamaica
Ok, After a long period of time not hearing from fellow Storm Chaser Jim Edds, he finally was able to get some communication of from Kingston Jamaica where he encountered the outer fringes of Major Hurricane Dean. He has been feeding in hurricane video from the area during the last few hours and you can view it here now. He is going to turn in for the night as it’s not safe to be out shooting video in the pure darkness. He said they had windows blown out in his hotel and there is damage in Kingston. He will be touring more of the area at first light, so look for more update here on Monday throughout the day. I just spoke to him on his satellite phone and he plans to travel to the south peninsula that sticks out on the south coast of Jamaica to tour where it looks the worst winds and surge might have taken place. The north eyewall brushed this part of the coast, likely with very intense winds. He’ll update me later on Monday with his findings.
Also Dangerous Hurricane Dean is still on a mission to threaten more locations of the northwestern Caribbean and his next stop is the Yucatan Peninsula. He could be a category 5 hurricane at landfall tomorrow and this could be yet another large blow to this area over the last few years. Stay tuned for more information on that event, as well as Jamaica aftermath coverage on Monday. Thanks everyone for the great support for Jim and everyone in Jamaica….more to come! ExtremeStorms.com
