Incoming Hurricane Aftermath Video/ Hotel Fire / Kingston Jamaica
A massive fire has taken place at the 300 room Pegasus Hotel located 15 miles from the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, Jamaica. Storm Chaser Jim Edds was still on location in Jamaica after intercepting Hurricane Dean. When the fire broke out, Jim was there filming the efforts of locals to put out the fire and rescue people trapped inside before the fire department was finally able to arrive. It took over 30 minutes before the first fire truck was able to arrive and quite a while before a second truck made it to the scene.
Frequent power outages occurring throughout the area from the hurricane, made fighting the fire all the more difficult. One hotel worker pleaded with firemen to rescue his daughter who was trapped inside, as seen in this video. With frightening amounts of smoke pouring out of the lobby and with fire responders undermanned and under equipped, miraculously there were no fatalities. They are still investigating the cause of the fire.
I had to edit up some of the raw video Jim was feeding to keep the file size down some and to save on bandwidth. Over 3 minutes of dramatic video of when the fire first broke out, to fire fighters arriving on the hotel scene. Thanks to Jim for feeding this video in while he awaits a flight out of Kingston tomorrow.

I don’t think I would want them saving my life
I am glad nobody was killed. These guys looked like a bunch of goofballs that had very little idea of how to fight a fire or use the equipment they had. I agree with Michelle, i wouldnt want them trying to save me. Great job with the video Jim. Thanks for being the link for him Jeff.
The Jamaican Fire Dept needs a lot of work. Appreciate what we have in the USA. It doesn’t take 30 min. for the first truck to show up and they know how to get water on the fire quickly. Notice all the guys running into the smoke without SCUBA. Bad idea. Smoke can kill you quick. I plan to show this video to the Pensacola Fire Dept. when I get back. I’m sure they will be horrified.
