Hurricane Dean 2007 DVD New Release

New Hurricane Dean DVD Home Video 2007 - Chasing Hurricane Dean in The Caribbean

Well, the first new hurricane DVD release of the 2007 season is days away from shipping and I can‘t wait to get my copy. Major Hurricane Dean was a powerful Category 5 hurricane that tracked through the Caribbean back in August. Dean affected area’s of the eastern Caribbean westward through to the Yucatan, and there were 3 fellow professional Hurricane Chasers and Videographers that captured the power of Dean on video from east to west across the Caribbean.

Chasing Hurricane Dean Video In The Caribbean

Dean From Space -

The beginning of the DVD opens with breathtaking scenes from the International Space station as it fly’s over Hurricane Dean giving a outstanding view of this massive hurricane as he tracked through the Caribbean. A very emotional moment for all the hurricane enthusiasts out there that love a beautiful structure hurricane from above. A must see!

Dominica -

Hurricane Dean in DominicaThis impressive new Hurricane Dean DVD release first brings you to the Island of Dominica in the Windward Islands, where fellow Storm Chaser Mike Theiss shows you where Dean made his first strike on the eastern Caribbean. Watch very impressive flash flooding as the heavy rains from Dean rush down from the mountains and into the open sea.

Jamaica - Kingston

Dean’s next stop is Jamaica where Storm Chaser Jim Edds brings you hurricane video from before, during and after in the Kingston Jamaica area. These are some of the same scenes seen in real-time here on this blog during the hurricane chase in Jamaica, plus a lot more never posted online from Kingston. Watch as the hurricane force winds brush the coast of Jamaica, causing storm surge and coastal damage to structures. Tour with Jim as he films the aftermath of Dean in Kingston for several days after the hurricane. Jim also captured some scary moments from the Pegasus Hotel fire that broke out while he was on site. He continues to film as firefighters arrive to put out the fire and rescue guests from the hotel.

Jamaica - Montego Bay

Also in Jamaica was Veteran Hurricane Chaser Jim Leonard, located on the northwest coast of Jamaica in Montego Bay. Jim films as Dean’s winds push storm surge into the coastal area’s and the winds blast the resort Caribbean city into the evening hours. Another great vantage point as Dean barely miss’s a direct hit on the island.

Mexico -Yucatan

YucatanThe DVD closes with pictures from Mahahual, Mexico, where Dean at his strongest, made a direct landfall as a category 5 hurricane on this small coastal town. Local residents and motel business owners bring you along on a photo tour of the extreme aftermath of buildings flattened by the 160+mph winds. Very sobering to view.

I had the chance to preview this DVD the other day, and I have to say it’s one of the best Hurricane Documentaries produce in several years. A true deep tropics chase intercept with Hurricane Dean, with excellent narration by Jim Edds, moving animations and graphics, including radar loops and satellite imagery. If you’re a hurricane DVD collector, this is a must for your home hurricane video collection. If you were on a vacation in the Caribbean during Hurricane Dean, this DVD will make for a outstanding archive of a hurricane that likely affected you trip in some way.
