Hurricane Noel Now A Huge Extratropical Cyclone
Hurricane Noel now fully extratropical and has transformed into a large northern Atlantic cyclone. Gusty winds up to gale force are blasting beaches and locations in New England this morning. Boston and Cap Cod, feeling the backside winds of the large storm moving northward to the east. The winds and surf remain elevated along the United States east coast the remainder of the weekend. Nova Scotia will feel the worst of Ex Noel later tonight and on Sunday, as the cyclone moves ashore with possible 50-80mph winds.
Hurricane Noel Help Kick Start The Dry Season In Florida
As Hurricane Noel at the time, rushed up the eastern seaboard, helping to swing a cold from through all of Florida on Friday. This first strong cold front of the season swept clean through to the northern Caribbean, and this opens the dry season for Florida. Much cooler temperatures and dew points rushed in on Friday and overnight, making it feel like fall finally here. Northern advection continues today with a strong northerly flow behind the front and the large Nor’ Easter Ex Hurricane Noel. The first 50F temps expected tonight as far south as the Everglades. I’m expecting upper 40’s herein Okeechobee on Sunday night under clear skies, and so I’ll be heading to the store later this afternoon to pick up some fire wood. Nothing like a fire to get you into the fall mood.
Invest 91L UP For Western Caribbean Sea
Yet another area of interest in the western Caribbean Sea off the coast of Central America. It is still hurricane season for another few weeks, and the Caribbean, (where Noel Formed) can be active right up to the end, and now we have another area worth watching. NHC might even fly a recon mission down there tomorrow if it looks like it might be organizing more. Some of the computer models do forecast low pressure down there and move it into Central America. Will continue to monitor…
Off to enjoy our first cooler weather weekend under full sun. Have a great weekend where ever you might be, even those of you up in Nova Scotia. I’d love to be there for the wind event.
