Southeast and Florida Cold weather November 2007

Florida and Southeast Getting November Chill

It’s funny how we went from “Tropical Weather” mode with Tropical Storm / Hurricane Noel last week and over the weekend, to our dry winter season pattern here in Florida. The last several nights have been very chilly with temperatures in the upper 40s to lower 50s. A dry northerly flow has replaced our summer southeasterly flow and sea breezes. The cooler weather is forecast to continue through the rest of the week and weekend, with another strong cold front reinforcing the colder weather and very dry air mass over the eastern United States.

The Southeast and Florida will see some of the coldest temperatures of the fall season so far this Wednesday and Thursday, with some freezing temperatures over the south. The very dry air will not help with ongoing drought conditions over the south and Florida and fire risks will be elevated through much of the week. I’m not a big fan of the colder weather, but it’s always a nice change as we move into the Holiday season. Once January rolls around, I’m ready for spring and severe storm season and chasing once again.

Vietnam has been dealing with deadly flooding events over the last few weeks, and just had over 40 killed recently by heavy floods, and now Typhoon Peipah looks to strike this region adding to the flooding devastation. It will be a few days before Typhoon Peipah affects central Vietnam and I’ll continue to monitoring the news coming in from the region.

Atlantic Invest 92L - East Atlantic

Believe it or not, we have another invest out there in the Atlantic this morning. Tropical Invest 92L This system is located in the far east-central Atlantic and really not worth the mention, but thought I would add it in today. Elsewhere there is nothing to talk about and the end of the 2007 Hurricane Season is on the horizon now. Only 25 days remaining in the season and now these strong cold fronts push well south of Florida, will likely put a closing done deal on the topics. Look for a season recap towards the end of the month.
