Finding Any Weather To Fill My Time

Here’s a picture of the cold front boundary moving through yesterday over Southern Florida, with sun rays. A very weak front at that. Made for some interesting time lapse video and digital stills. That front now lays well south of here nearing the northern Florida Keys, but is expected to return to the north later today as a warm front ahead of the next system. Would be nice if we could get some over running rains, but chances look low with little moisture to work with in the low and mid levels. This La Nina pattern is not helping out Florida drought situation.

Pre-Dawn Time Lapse Video of High Cirrus and Moon

It’s a chilly start here this morning in Southern Florida the day after Black Friday. The moon is very bright here during the pre-dawn hours, and I have been shooting a long-segment time lapse of the moon and high level cirrus clouds streaming in overhead from the west early this morning. The moon being almost full, and the partly cloudy skies, with low moisture levels, the pre-dawn sky is bright, illuminating the high level clouds perfectly for a long early morning time lapse. I won’t have time this morning to edit it and upload before I head out, but I’ll try and post it on Sunday.

Day and night time lapses of the sky, moon and high level clouds, come out much better this time of year with the low levels of moisture in the atmosphere. The sky is bright this morning from moon light, and the high level cirrus deck streaming in overhead from the west stands out well in the early morning sky. Should make for a interesting video segment. There is some upper-level jet energy moving in overhead, and this makes for some cool looking day and night time-lapses of the upper level cloud features streaming in from the west. During the late Fall through until mid spring, the jet stream dives further south over the Gulf of Mexico and Florida, making for some cool time-lapses of the high level cloud features screaming overhead.

Well, the dawn sky is beginning to light up, so I’m going to head out and close out the time lapse filming taking place on the front deck. Can’t wait to review it later today.
