No Go For Atlantis Launch Today
It’s a beautiful warm Sunday morning here in Florida, and I had planned to maybe head up to the Kennedy Space Center for this afternoons second attempt launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis flight STS-122, but the launch has been postponed once again. They have rescheduled the next attempt for no earlier than January 2, 2008.
The launch of space shuttle Atlantis has been rescheduled for no earlier than Jan. 2, 2008. The postponement will give engineers time to evaluate false readings from the engine cutoff sensor system that measures liquid hydrogen in the external tank.Of the four engine cutoff sensors, ECO sensor number three gave false readings during Sunday’s launch attempt. The sensor system is one of several that protect the shuttle’s main engines by triggering their shut down if fuel runs unexpectedly low.
The weather would have been outstanding for today’s launch, and spending a few hours on the beach before the launch would of added to the fun. Looks like now I’m going to stick around the house and maybe work outside on some of the landscaping since it’s so nice out today. It feels like a early March morning with cool breeze off the Atlantic, and cumulus field above.
Defiantly not a day to spend sitting in the house, but there is always NFL Football later today as well, so the day has lots of great potential.
