Rain On The Way? Really?

Tropical Storm Olga might be nothing more than a remnant low pressure system now south of Cuba in the northwestern Caribbean Sea, but some of the moisture associated with the surprise December tropical system will enhance Florida rains the next 48 hours. Atmospheric moisture levels are already increasing over South and Central Florida, and possible heavy showers and isolated thunder later today and overnight along the Southeast coast. A nice little thunderstorm would be so nice to smell, hear, and receive rain-wise during these very dry times.

Hard to believe we’ve been talking “Tropical Storms” and tropical wave moistures enhancing rain and thunder chances here in Florida 2 weeks away from Christmas. It’s been very warm here so far since about Thanksgiving. There is a strong cold front on the way for the weekend, but this time with all the moisture in place, and some upper-level jet stream support, we actually have some strong storms to tend with over the weekend that will likely be associated with a squall line. I’m all for any of that, especially if it’s a overnight squall line. I’m truly in need of some decent night time lightning and heavy rains.

Filming Precipitation Once Again

The next few days into the weekend, it looks to be a little more active over Florida and the Southeast weather-wise, so I’ll be out trying to work. Thanks to Tropical Storm Olga, South Florida might see some extra rain ahead of the next cold front, which everyone here wants. Plus, some possible strong to severe storms ahead of the trough Saturday night, if we can get enough upper-level support and convergence. Fingers crossed!
