Lake Okeechobee Florida Moonset December 2007

Moonset Photography Chasing

It was such a crisp clear morning when I got up at 5:00am, that I decided to head out to shoot some digital Moonset photography over Lake Okeechobee. The stars were still twinkling, with a bright moon over the waters of Lake Okeechobee, Florida on this Eve of Christmas Eve. The pre-dawn hours were light in wind, with a chill in the air, making a beautiful moon and water landscape. There was just enough light thin layer of fog, to help create a little glow in the moon light. I must of shot 40-50 shots, and many came out awesome. I’ll try and put together a series of photo’s from this morning if I get time before the NFL Football games get started.

Satisfying A Photography Need

I had this feeling last night to shoot some digital pictures today, and charged up my battery packs just in case I still decided to head out early. Sure glad I did, because it was a beautiful moonset and sunrise over the Southern Florida interior peninsula on the northern end of the Everglades wetlands. There was no one around for miles, and you could only hear the slap of the water, early morning birds, and some distant Alligator groans. I was sure to scout my area first before getting to close to the water, especially since I know this area of the lake has a large populations on gators, you‘ve seen photos on here before.

So, it was a very enjoyable morning these last 15 hours or so before Christmas Eve. A lot to do tomorrow and on Christmas, so it was nice to squeeze in some “me” time the way I like it. Now if only Santa would bring me some lightning storms to play with on Christmas morning.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!
