Florida’s Above Temps For December Heading Out
Significant Florida cold weather event to move into the area starting tomorrow through Thursday. The first real strong cold front will ring in the New 2008Year, with freezing temperatures as far south as the Southern Everglades. Much of the interior Florida Peninsula from north to south will likely see a freeze, and some shorter duration of freezing temperatures further south. Even here on the northern end of Lake Okeechobee, we’re expecting a freeze, and I’ll be preparing all my tropical plants for the 2 night cold event. This cold weather event is to be the coldest for central and south Florida since maybe the 2003 freeze, so it’s been awhile since we have had to deal with such cold freezing weather. It has been a above warm December for all of Florida, with temperatures running 10-15F above normal for much of the month. Christmas Day people packed the beaches and water ways at the weather was in the mid 80’s. This is all about to change unfortunately.
Florida Freezing Weather Coverage
Wednesday and Thursday early morning hours, I’ll be covering the first freeze for central and Southern Florida with video and pictures. I’ll be focusing on the Orange groves, and Sugarcane fields along the spin of the state. I should have several updates here through the event now that I’m back into my daily grind after the holidays. It was nice to step away from the blog for a week and enjoy family and friends during the Christmas holiday week, but now it’s nice to get back to work.
Happy New Year - 2008!
I’d like to wish all my fellow Chasers, weather enthusiasts, and readers a Happy New Year, and best wishes for all of you in 2008. Celebrate safely tonight during your New Years Eve parties and gatherings.
To great chasing of storms and weather in 2008! I’ll receive some nasty emails for that comment…LOL
