Dangerous Tornado Situation In Mississippi at This Time
Tornado outbreak underway in Mississippi and Louisiana and expected to move into western Alabama in the coming hours. There are several active tornadic Supercell thunderstorms, with possible confirmed tornadoes on the ground in central Mississippi. As of this post, which I’ll be updating frequently this evening, there are 8 tornado reports already, most of them in central and Southern Mississippi and northeastern Louisiana. Some locations in Mississippi are already reporting tornado and wind damage. The towns and cities of Jackson, Goodman, Stallis, and McCool, all have reported in the last few hours possible tornado and straight-line wind damage. No initial reports of injuries or deaths at this time.
Just getting word as I type, that significant damage in Caledonia, MS is being reported from a tornado, and more damage and a tornado currently moving through downtown Vernon, Alabama. It’s looking like all the conditions needed for violent tornadoes has come together over the south.
Radar Pictures Paint A Scary Scene
Recent radar images have been showing some impressive tight hook-echo’s radar signatures, and storm spotter and Ham Radio reports confirm some funnels and tornado circulations on the ground. This is a very dangerous situation for many in Central Mississippi and soon later into Alabama.
I’m currently awaiting and news form Storm Chasers chasing in the affected area’s and video feeds being posted online. If I come across any news, be sure it will be posted in this article. I’m continuing to monitor this early January 2008 tornado event in the Deep South states.

Sir,
I have family in Calendonia, MS. …………how are things there and is there pictures of the damage. She told me that the
school was hit.
Thank you
Not sure on all the details, but I did see the school that was hit on CNN. I hope your family did well during the storm. Please keep us posted.
Jeff, that is an impressive hook echo on your radar capture of that cell. It has been quite a January. Dewvoid is actively taking care of any shot of weather here.
We need to have a Dewvoid outlook each day, so please keep us up on tabs where your going to be headed.
Hehehe - the latenight smarta$% remark!
Yes a mean hook indeed!
