Love A Heavy Rain Afternoon - Florida Rain
Once again yesterday it was nice to see some garden variety thunderstorms move through much of mainland Florida. Area’s from Tampa, Orlando, Daytona Beach, and southward into Okeechobee and West Palm Beach, received some decent rains from heavy showers and storms. Even a few heavy cells moved right over the southern end of Lake Okeechobee, where the water levels are almost 4 feet below normal still. The storms intensity’s were nothing to write about this morning, but it sure was nice to hear a few isolated distant rumbles of thunder, and heavy rain on the roof.
Yeah Dewdrop Opened The Door Again Crossing The Border
Well, waking up this morning to much cooler and dryer atmosphere, with northwest winds ushering in cooler weather behind the cold front that passed through overnight. This has put a end to another 8-9 days of above normal and record warmth for Florida January standards. This next cold snap will bring some frost the next few nights, and temperatures into the mid-upper 30s in some of the colder locations. This will all last about 2 nights, and then we will rebound with a southeasterly flow out of the Caribbean. Moisture and temperatures to return ahead of developing low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico by Wednesday. This will lead into our next chance for storms and possible overrunning rain event.
It could be a lot worst, with no rain at all and crazy cold weather everyday. You know when you have opportunities to hang out at the beaches in January, it’s a pretty enjoyable winter, but you’ll still here me complain on here anytime the cooler weather moves in.
Have a great new work week!
