Not To Bad Weather-Wise
It didn’t get a cold as I thought it might over the weekend as the winds turned more out of the northeast sooner and modified the air. It was pretty windy and chilly yesterday with highs breaking only 55F here and a cold north wind. That’s pretty chilly for South Florida standards, but by evening the winds were already turning onshore bringing in more moisture and warmer temperatures from the ocean. Got to love the Gulf stream!
A rough day at the beach expected today, with rough surf, rip currents and gusty northeast winds as high pressure builds along the Mid-Atlantic coast. The strong onshore flow will likely kick up low-topped showers that will blast inland today, helping to keep things a little moist as we move into the later part of January. I’m on call to shoot chilly, windy beach weather video today for local, so I’ll be out and about looking for those brave northerners hanging out at the area beaches like if it was June. There’s always some interesting weather video to be shot on the beach this time of year.
Upcoming Weather This Week
The next expected storm system looks to be by Thursday or Friday, and much weaker than the last two systems, so nothing impressive on the horizon her in Florida. There does looks like a chance later in the week for some severe weather over the Deep South, but it’s early and the models continue to flip-flop on details, so until maybe Wednesday, it looks thunderstorm free over much of the nation.
So, I’m off to the windy coast. Have a great week!
