Cooler and Drier, But Not For Long

Satellite- SoutheastThe stubborn cold front that has brought all the rain to Florida the last few days has finally moved through. Significantly drier this morning with colder air rushing in behind the front with gusty northerly winds. Yeah, just what I love, more cold weather. Waking up to lower 50’s this morning here South-Central Florida, with a chilly north wind not helping my dislike for cooler weather. It was so nice earlier in the week, with humid warm conditions, but this looks to return in the short-term as the drier and cooler weather will be short-lived. The winds are forecast to veer around to the northeast later today, bringing a halt to the cooler air push from the north.

More Rain On The Way For The Southern States This Weekend

This weekend a low pressure system looks to be developing once again in the Gulf of Mexico increasing rain chances not only here in Florida, but over the Deep South and Southeast states. This pattern has been excellent lately, keeping the South in a wet precipitation mode, which is helping with dry ground conditions. We have seen significantly more rain this winter so far then all of last winter. Let’s keep it up!

Large Severe Weather Event Possible Early Next Week

Models are coming into better agreement of a larger severe weather episode next week from eastern Texas into the Mississippi Valley and Southeast. This will all develop ahead of a large deep trough to move in from the west, but still waiting to see how moisture level will rebound ahead of the system. It’s still early, but it’s beginning to look like some will be dealing with severe weather the last few days of the month. More to come on this over the weekend.

TGIF! The weekend is finally here!
