Early February Rage’s In With Tornado Outbreak Over Mid-South

Super Tuesday turned out to be a Tornadic Supercell Outbreak record day of tornadoes and severe weather. A significant outbreak of severe storms took place yesterday over a large portion of the Tennessee and Mississippi River Valley of the south. The hardest hit states were, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi and Kentucky. As of this post being published, there are 67 preliminary tornado reports of damage or confirmed on the ground in the mid-south. Unfortunately, many of yesterdays tornadoes took place in larger populated metro area’s, like Memphis TN, Little Rock AR, and Jackson TN. The death toll reported by CNN this morning is now up to 52 for the outbreak over the mid-south. There were at times up to a half dozen active tornado watches on Tuesday evening, some being PDS- Particularly Dangerous Situation tornado watches, as atmospheric conditions were primed for long-track violent tornadoes.

Super Tuesday February 5, 2008 Tornado Outbreak Damage Reports

Hard to believe all the tornado reports of yesterdays tornado outbreak, and the high death toll. Looks more like a March-April outbreak aftermath than early February. Large violent long track tornadoes moving through heavily populated area’s, Storm Chasers and TV web cam’s capturing them live as they developed and being streamed on the web as it was all unfolding. Here are some of the more detailed reports for some of tornado events yesterday, including some links to video of some of the tornado in Tennessee and Arkansas. I will be adding to this list throughout the day and next few days as other Chaser reports and images come in.

Severe Weather Continues Today In The Southeast US

The severe weather is forecast to continue into the Southeast and northern Florida today, but not anywhere as strong as yesterdays violent storms. Today were dealing with more of a strong squall line with embedded Supercells, but mostly a wind and hail event. I’ll be monitoring these storms as well today, along with aftermath coverage from the Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak of February 2008.
