The Cold Weather Returns To Florida Tonight
It’s been so warm and nice this February here in Florida, with above temperatures the last few weeks, but that about to change. I was hoping we saw the last of any cold weather, but the cold is returning this afternoon and tonight. The front is moving through the area as I type, and cold air advection will begin shortly, keeping our high temperatures today only in the lower 60’s. We actually reached our high temperatures for the day overnight, and now they will slowly fall throughout the day under a strong northwest wind. Tonight we are expecting mid 30’s here near Lake Okeechobee, with colder wind chill readings. Further north, central Florida will be flirting with freezing weather as temps really drop after midnight tonight.

Palm Tree’s Feeling The Chill Tonight
I was thought maybe any cold weather for the remaining part of the season would be a few nights here and there in the 40’s and 50’s since we were getting so late into the winter season here in south-central Florida. So, we planted some tropical plants and coconut palm tree’s in the yard recently that I have to now protect from the cold tonight. I’m not too worried about the plants, but my sensitive Coconut Palm Tree’s I am. I’ll be busy in the yard this evening trying to protect my landscaping for at least one night of very cold weather.
Upper Level Cloud Time-Lapse Video Opportunity
There is going to be a impressive jet stream overhead the next 24 hours, bringing in moments of high cirrus clouds racing overhead at 120knts. This always makes interesting time lapses and I plan to shoot maybe one this evening at sunset. With the cold front now south of the area, and the dew points dropping like mad, the atmosphere will clear out of moisture and visibilities will be prefect for a bright and clear sunset with the background cirrus clouds. I hope it’s worth putting to some music for a post on Thursday…stay tuned!
