Pretty Cold This Morning Over All Of Florida
The cold last night was not too bad since it’s warming up nicely this morning. We reached the 39.5F mark this morning, which is pretty cold for South Florida. My new coconut palms I believe faired well since the colder temperatures were very short-lived. Expecting to be 10-12 degrees below normal for high temperatures today, until the winds begin to turn around out of the east and modify out atmosphere off the Atlantic in the next day or so. Were getting ready to move into March, so hopefully these cold snaps will begin to have a harder time moving into the southern part of the state.
Major Deep South Severe Weather Outbreak Next Week?
Forecast computer models are begin to paint a possible larger severe weather outbreak at the beginning of next week over the Deep South and northern Gulf coast states. This seems to be the trend the last month, as the southern branch of the jet stream has been very active. Once again models crank up the southern jet, and develop a strong low pressure system along the Gulf coast. It’s still early, and we need to see how well temperatures and moisture rebound from this last flush front that scoured out the atmosphere over the Gulf of Mexico. Like I said above, we are moving into March now, and the battle of the seasons will become more active from now through to June, so the severe weather events are likely to be stronger and more widespread, and more frequent.
Might Chase The Setup - Deep South
I’m watching this next setup for a possible chase player next week along the northern Gulf coast. I’ll update on this more through the remainder of the week and into the weekend. For now, it is cool out, but beautiful and a great day to get out and do some walking and photography. Have a great day.

Glad to hear your tender vegetation made it through the night. Ocean-effect snows (Norlun trough, perhaps) last night here in coastal NH- you’re jealous, I know. Well, only 75 days until the axis swings us to where you are now…
Come on up! Getting ready for it. Going out to play today with the new “toys” today to get aquainted.
