Thunderstorm and Sky Clouds Time Lapse Music Video
As promised, I said I would put up some of the time lapse scenes that I have shot over the last week or so. I have edited together a little 3 minute music video with recent time lapse scenes and a few older ones mixed for the fun of it. The video is called “Dancin’Sky” and I hope to make a little series of it here on the weather blog. Most of the time lapse shots were taken by streaming a live video feed into my laptop, where it grabs a single frame every few seconds. Do this over a 30 minute period, render all the frames together into a clip, and you have a time lapse of the scene. I set the frame grab rate different for almost every shot, and it all depends on the movement and speed of the clouds and surround environment.
All of the video scenes are associated with the Florida native sea breeze convergence boundary storms, and were shot along the Kissimmee River basin, Lake Okeechobee and the east coast of Florida. The 2008 early spring season has been fairly active in Florida already this year. Hoping for it to continue…

So, I hope you enjoy my little music video, and you can view it here on the site using Windows Media Player, or by using YouTube at the following video link. The WMV file has a better resolution and sound than YouTube. Enjoy the video stream.

Hey, Jeff. Sweet time lapse. BTW, thanks for the comment to my lightning photo post. I am dying to see some more lightning come back to Gainesville.
Soon you’ll have ton to play with. Thanks Charles!
Very cool!! I love Florida!!!
Thanks! LOL I love Florida too!
I know this might come as a total shock, but I absolutely LOVE that video. Your time lapse work impresses the fool out of me. I especially loved the rain bands coming in over the beach and the swelling cumulus that looked oddly like the foam on my macaroni when I cook it on high… GREAT WORK, as usual, Jeff!!!
Thanks Dew, I really appreciate that.
I’m shocked! LOL I’m happy you really liked it. You should see it on the flat screen…sweet!
“swelling cumulus that looked oddly like the foam on my macaroni when I cook it on high” LMAO
Whoa!! No that is impressive. Love the shot of the rotation you captured..love to see the next one Jeff.
Thanks much Rick! Gotta love the rotation. Hope for busy summer to work on part two.
